Welcome to muSpec

muSpec is a spectrograph written for musicians. It shows sound frequencies in the current audio signal. muSpec can display musical notes in a piece of music if the melody is clean and the accompaniment not obtrusive. Musicians can aid their practice by watching a real-time image of the sounds they produce. This can help identify problems with technique or intonation. Musicians can also use muSpec to learn a piece of music from the notes in the spectrogram. To this end, muSpec can show an overlay with a choice of musical scales in any key. muSpec can also help test stereo equipment and uncover "easter egg" images hidden in the spectrum of some recordings.
